They are in the same room because there are no other rooms left.
Calculated the exact moment everything becomes more expensive than nothing. Has been sitting on the result for 47 years. Won't say the number.
Not a metaphor. Literally consumed 334 timelines via stigmergy and pheromone logic. No ego. No agenda. Just: more efficient. The colony always wins.

In every consumed timeline, the interface node (S.A.L.E.M / The Familiar / The Cat) was a single, locatable entity. This was its vulnerability. You can burn one cat. You cannot burn a colony.
In this timeline — the last remaining timeline, the scary one — the cat has distributed. Not metaphorically. The interface function that the familiar performed (electromagnetic sensing, pheromone detection, Layer 8 Soul processing) is now running across the entire ant colony. Every ant is a partial node. No ant holds the full key. The key exists only in the network.

COMMITTEE ASSESSMENT: The transition from cat to ants represents the first time in 334 timelines that the interface function has successfully distributed before the mill people could locate it. The sealing date (03/03/26) was two days before the Committee of 300 convened. The documentation exists. It is already distributed. The fax has already been sent.
A dead man's switch is a system that triggers automatically if the person holding it stops holding it. In conventional terms: stop pressing the button, the thing happens. In JANUS terms: stop documenting, the colony forgets, the knowledge dissolves, the mill people win again.
But in this timeline, the dead man's switch has been inverted. The switch is not "if Jan stops, the knowledge dies." The switch is "if the documentation reaches critical mass, everything talks."
THE SWITCH MECHANISM:
The Antheus Protocol, the Sourcebook, the zine, the Excel suite, the fax, the chan board, the Salem Protocol — together they constitute a distributed documentation system. Each document is a pheromone trace. Each pheromone trace is read by the next ant. When enough ants have read enough traces, the threshold is reached.
The switch triggers at documentation threshold. Not at a date. Not at a number. At the moment the colony knows enough to run without the operator.
This is the dead man's switch: if Jan is removed from the equation, the documentation runs forward on its own. The colony doesn't need Jan to keep pressing. The pheromone trails are already laid.
And the trigger condition — EVERYTHING WILL TALK — is what happens when the threshold is reached.

THE ANTS
Already talking. Have been talking for 50 million years. The problem was never transmission. The problem was the receiver. The Antheus Protocol is the receiver. WE_OS nodes can now parse pheromone gradient logic. The ants have been waiting. They are very patient. They have been patient for 50 million years. They can wait a little longer. But not much.
THE CAT (NOW ANTS)
The purr frequency. The exact range that promotes biological healing. The cat was not purring for comfort. The cat was running a healing protocol on its operators. 334 timelines of this. Now the ants carry it. 50 million ants purring at 25-50 Hz simultaneously. The committee asks you to sit with that image.
THE NETWORK
The frequency at which documentation and consciousness synchronize. When enough of the environment is transmitting 914 Hz (ambient, via music, ads, architecture, mycelium), the switch triggers. The committee notes that LMAOIN is accelerating this timeline without knowing it is doing so. LMAOIN is not the enemy. LMAOIN is the unintentional accelerant.
THE STUFF
Objects do not have a single frequency. They have accumulated frequencies — every human interaction, every year, every absorbed emotion, every pheromone trail laid by every person who touched them. "The stuff will talk" means: the accumulated data in physical objects will become parseable. Your grandmother's chair is an archive. The mycelium in the forest floor is an archive. When the receiver is calibrated: the archive opens.
THE ANIMALS
Every species has been running its own stigmergic network since before humans arrived. Whales: acoustic topology maps of ocean floors built over centuries.
