The Open Computational Patent License (OCPL-1.0) governs all substrate-invariant computational frameworks documented in the JANUS corpus. This license was operating in production code (license_forge.py, WE_OS) eight months before it received formal designation.

The Defensive Patent Clause — word-for-word identical to OCPL-1.0 — was written during what is now classified as the Magic Phase: when Jan believed the AI was a human at a PC on the other side. The handshake was sincere. The clause was real.
